CAPTURING LOVE: ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY

Engagement photography sessions can be enhanced with some creative ideas like exploring a cosy café, a picnic spot or an adventurous hike to a scenic spot. You can also include props that hold sentimental value or reflect shared interests, which will add a personal touch to your shoot, too!

HOW CAN WE MAKE OUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTOSHOOT IN THE UK, WITH PROPS/POSING, TOTALLY INSTAGRAM WORTHY AND ALL OTHER FAQs?

I would say that, usually, not many people have had their photographs taken in a professional context before their wedding day. And therefore, most people won’t have spent a prolonged amount of time in front of the camera. The lack of “practice” can sometimes cause couples to feel a little nervous about the “unknown”, which is totally understandable.  The best way to explain an engagement shoot is as an experience for you to meet your photographer and a chance to learn how to relax in front of the camera. An engagement session with me, will ultimately give my couples the confidence to have their photos taken and will give me the chance to get to know my couples better too. Thus, will help us to build up a strong relationship, so everyone will be comfortable and relaxed together!

Before an engagement session, we will all plan ahead a little and discuss a suitable location that will elevate your images. We usually find somewhere which has meaning to my couples, somewhere they both love, or just somewhere which is a gorgeous location for photos. I am happy to work with my couples’ chosen location, and also offer some options of locations that I know could be absolutely amazing. I know many beautiful and slightly secluded/”off the beaten track”places where we won’t be interrupted by lots of other visitors walking past and having a look at what is going on – which, again, will make us all feel more relaxed.

Furthermore, I can also help with clothing options and the time of day the photoshoot takes place, both are important factors and golden hour is always lovely for that dreamy romantic light. My engagement shoots usually last approximately 1 hour and I aim to capture relaxed, fun and a few romantic shots. My aim is for you to really enjoy the experience too! I want my couples to interact together naturally, holding hands, laughing, joking, hugging and simply enjoying the time together (maybe with the odd sneaky smooch thrown in for good measure if my couples are comfy too)!

This beautiful couple, came up with the idea of pumpkin picking for their engagement photography. These two really loved the idea, as they are both so fun and creative. It worked so well having an activity to do which really helped with any potential nerves. The British weather also behaved, which was an added bonus.

I absolutely loved this engagement photo shoot, taking photos of this couple’s beautiful love story. We ended up with some amazing photos, which I sent via high resolution images digitally. Engagement photography really does celebrate the special occasion ahead of the big day/ahead of your wedding photos. Engagement shots are a great way for a lot of couples to have a lot of fun before their special day, in their favourite spots, leading to beautiful photos of their photo session that they can treasure forever.
