FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY: MY 2021 AUTUMNAL MINI SESSIONS GUIDE

Hi folks and a very happy October to you all!

I hope you have all been keeping well?! I have had a busy couple of months catching up on all the beautiful weddings that were finally able to happen over this summer's wedding season, wooohooo FINALLY!

This month, however, it has been really wonderful to slow down a little, to catch my breath and to have the chance to capture some beautiful autumnal family photography.

Last week I was reunited with two prior clients, Ashleigh and Rob, who I first met when their son, Angus, was just a little newborn (see here). They wanted some images of him when he was teeny tiny!

This time around, Ashleigh and Rob wanted some more autumnal images of him to update their collection of their beautiful growing son (wow has it flown by, he was so grown up compared to the newborn I last met – which is even more reason to have regular Family Photos like Rob and Ashleigh!) Better yet, this lovely pair also brought their friends who had just had their own baby… Emily, Dexter & little Poppy.

It was amazing as we were able to do two shoots in one, with lots of varied and lovely groupings, it really was the best of both worlds!

HOW CAN I MAKE SURE MY SURREY FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT IS SUCCESSFUL?

To ensure a successful family photoshoot, it's definitely important to have a family photographer you can trust, planning ahead, and choosing a location that is meaningful are the most important thing s. I always discuss coordinating outfits, and communicate expectations for your family session, taking a natural approach to your portrait photography.
I absolutely love shooting these autumn mini sessions that took place in one of my very favourite locations in Surrey; Polesden Lacey. I have lots of autumn mini sessions booked there over the next few weeks, so I thought it was the perfect time to share these and also give my future lovely clients some great inspiration for what to wear, especially since these beautiful families did such a good job with their styling (unaided by me of course!). The stunning Woodland at Polesden Lacey provided the perfect location for these autumnal maternity family portraits.

The best colours to wear for an autumn session are mustards, oranges, khaki or burgundy, or navy and greys also work! They all work really well with the gorgeous autumn shades that will surround us at this stunning spot! Please do scroll down and take a look through these mini sessions for some inspiration.

As well as autumn and autumnal shoots being two of my MOST favourite things, one of the best parts of my job is getting to see children grow up in front of my camera.

It was great to see how Angus had grown since I last photographed him as a newborn and to be introduced to another beautiful family. Referrals really are an amazing part of my job, too! Emily may book in another shoot when Poppy is a little older too, and I’ll get to see her grow as well, it truly is SUCH a privilege! I always strive to make sure my sessions are as much fun as possible, especially for little ones, so that I can capture their real moments of joy and happiness in the best photos.

“Megan was absolutely fantastic and organised a beautiful autumnal photo shoot for us with our new baby and our best friends. The photos were absolutely beautiful and Megan was very quick in getting them to us to view. Megan herself is lovely, very quick in responding to questions and queries, and she made the whole experience super relaxed, natural and enjoyable for two people who aren’t that keen on having their photo taken! We will definitely be organising another photo shoot with Megan in the future.” - Emily.

It was my pleasure Emily, and thanks to the lovely Ashleigh for putting us all in touch!
