VINTAGE SEASIDE EVENT: THE ART OF EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY

WHAT IS EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY, AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR A BUSINESS?

Event photography is the process of creating images that represent and communicate a business's identity. It is important because it helps businesses establish a strong visual presence, build brand recognition, and convey their unique story, values, and personality to their target audience.

Two weeks ago, I was contacted by "Tallulah Goodtimes" an Electro-Swing D.J, singer and songwriter, based in East Anglia. Of course, I jumped at the chance of working with her and her sought-after events company. So, I organised and packed my kit/equipment up and made my way to Britten Studio in Snape Maltings in Suffolk for the "Vintage Seaside" event she had organised on the opening night of the "Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival".
Snape Maltings brings together an array of musical activities and is one of the world’s leading centres of music. Holding concerts and events, independent shops, cafés, galleries and walks, this wonderful campus is set on the beautiful Suffolk coastline and has everything one could ask for - talented musicians and support for local communities! Snape Maltings gained in popularity from its very famous Aldeburgh Festival, founded by Benjamin Britten in 1948. “Britten” Studio, named after him, is at the heart of the “Hoffmann Building” and is specifically designed to have excellent and flexible acoustics. “The Vintage Seaside” event, organised by Tallulah, was set to take place here and with 340 seats and a high level of sound insulation this was going to make for a wonderful night of music, dancing and fun.

The entire venue was beautiful, decked out with stunning lighting, twinkly fairy lights and amazing projections/graphics. The whole evening was cram-packed with delicious food & drink including an array of seafood, hot dogs, sweet treats and alcoholic beverages (all supplied by “The Cake Shop Bakery”, “Dingley Dell Pork”, “Gressingham Foods”, “Lickety Ice”, “Bubble & Squid”, “Tiptoe Gin”, “Aspall”, “Adnams Aldeburgh” and “Alchemy Wines”).

Seaside themed details and vibes filled the interior space and larger-than-life live music acts performed throughout the night, including… “The House Hop – Vintage Gramophone D.J”., “The Lampshades of Swing”, and of course, “Tallulah Goodtimes” feat. “Dan The Trumpetman”.

I was given a creative brief and “photo list” of exactly what my clients wanted captured, as well as the artistic licence and freedom to shoot what I wanted – my perfect way of working! Although I had a rather busy evening, with lots of wonderful activities going on all around me, glorious smells, funky sounds and beautiful visuals – I was able to focus and have a wonderful time, simultaneously.

I felt utterly privileged to witness such a well-organised, successful event and to have felt like I was on an amazing night out too!

Guests socialised, soaked up the vibrant atmosphere and had a good old dance! “Tallulah Goodtimes”, “Vernon Blackmore”, “Paul Thompson Events” and everyone at “The Frolics Team” - it looked amazing, and I had a wonderful time photographing it, thank you for having me!

I absolutely loved capturing these images for the event team, they were literally my dream clients and gained a great deal of images for their social media/social platforms at this photo shoot, it honestly was such great fun and I can't wait to see it all on Instagram. On the day of the shoot, the team were great in front of the camera and the whole process felt seamless from start to finish, and they've now got marketing materials as small business owners to show what they can do for future potential clients, and as a business owner myself, I really do know and value just how important it is to capture the true essence of a brand story and their personal brand authentically.

This personal branding photo shoot, with product photography and props, was a dream for a personal branding photographer like myself. This brand photoshoot was the perfect example of how to do brand photography and a branding photo shoot - well. From this review below, the team seem really happy with how their branding session/branding shoot went, gaining professional brand photos/personal brand photography from their personal branding photography session in a way that captured the event but also focused on personal branding and personal branding photography from an experienced personal branding shoot photographer making it an incredible personal branding photography session all round!

“Meg came and photographed an event I produced at Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival. She was really thorough in asking what I was looking for in advance, and I'm thrilled with the Photos! I was keen to capture not only people, but some of the detailing in the decor and on stage, and she did an awesome job. During the evening, she worked in a way that made everyone feel at ease, and really captured all that I was hoping! Highly recommend her and her beautiful work” – Tallulah Goodtimes.
