THINGS TO DO IN CLEVEDON, SOMERSET
So, it's only taken me 4 months (yikes, I do always say these things take time!) to thoroughly explore our new beautiful home and compile a list for anyone visiting.
Megan McAdam Photography is based in Clevedon, a Victorian Seaside Town, which sits just outside of Bristol. If you're visiting Bristol and you fancy a trip to a quaint, gorgeous Seaside Town, rich in history, then Clevedon definitely has a lot to offer.
After exploring the famous Pier, see more details here, we’ve gradually begun to discover new and wonderful spots throughout the past few months.
The first half of my list consists of walks/general mooching locations and the second half is all to do with good eatiers...
-
Ladye & Walton Bay - A secluded little oasis, more sheltered than Clevedon Pier but just as stunning with its rocky landscapes.
-
Marine Lake - A picturesque infinity tidal lake built in 1929 that, thanks to funding from the "Heritage Lottery", is in amazing condition and hosts a variety of events and activities throughout the year, like sailing, paddleboarding, and canoeing (to name a few!). Little ones can also enjoy the playground & miniature railway at the Salthouse Fields, which sits just opposite.
-
Poets Walk & The Lookout Tower - Wander through St Andrews Church (an amazing 12th century, Grade 1 Listed Building) and its beautiful gardens, through to the cliff's edge with stunning views throughout, and a few steep hills which lead to...
-
Marshfields, Land Yeo - A charming little port with old rickety boats. From here there's a glorious flat coastal walk too!
-
Clevedon Town - Filled with Small Businesses and quirky stores only found in a Coastal Village like Clevedon.
-
Clevedon Sunday market - Visit at the right time of the year, and on the first Sunday of the month, spread across sites throughout the town, are various Small Business Stalls selling crafts, food, drinks, clothing, antique furniture, you name it.
-
Lunch at “Five at the beach” - They have such a wide selection of veggie & vegan meals, everything is home cooked, and they do the biggest/ the best baguettes in the Summer!
-
“The Cellar” for tapas - Because who doesn't love a dinner where all you do is drink wine and nibble Spanish-inspired delicacies?!
-
“Butterflies” for afternoon tea - Full of fairy lights, bunting and flowery furnishings, they really do make the best afternoon nibbles, in the quaintest setting.
-
“Coffee #1” for sandwiches - For a relaxed hot toastie, massive slice of cake or delicious coffee - this is just the place.
-
“The Limehouse” for drinks - another lovely spot filled with gorgeous ambient lighting, quirky artwork, and THE best halloumi fries and cocktails going! Cosy in the Winter, cool in the Summer.
I’m sure this list will continue to grow (as well as my expanding waistline!) with all these wonderful places to enjoy, right on our doorstep.
Happy Exploring and until next time! (See here)
