RELAXED OUTDOOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY, IN SURREY

David and Danielle first reached out to me a few months prior to their wedding date. Following a lovely chat on the phone, we arranged to visit their wedding venue.

Venue visits aren't always possible, but if we can get together, I do enjoy doing them; they give us all a chance to get to know each other more and to prep/discuss my photography style and my couples' wedding photography wants and wishes for their wedding day. Doing this ahead of time means that on the special day itself, everything just flows, and the vibes are chilled, a win-win for all of us.

Like a lot of my couples, I felt I was really trusted by them both to capture their wedding photos including some key noted shots and family groupings, among lots of other lovely candid, natural and magical moments that unfolded during their day. This style of working not only allows me to be aware of the most significant and individual key points of my couple’s day, that will be important to my couples and their families for many wonderful years to come, but to then also have the freedom to be alert and fluid. You won’t find me referencing a massive formal list, working through it and ticking off shots throughout the entirety of your day! In fact, I normally stick to just a small list for just a portion of the day (with my couples' input, of course), which allows me to really focus my time on observing fleeting moments and allows me to capture images of those truly authentic moments, encapsulating them as they naturally happen.

After visiting Guildford Castle, in Surrey, with David and Danielle, not only did they book me, (whooopie!!) but I also now had a better understanding of their “photographic” tastes, as their wedding photographer and how I could help guide them both and their beautiful families, on their big day, to achieve exactly what they wanted from their wedding photographs.

Their day was just gorgeous, starting with a small and intimate service at Guildford Registry Office (set in Artington House, built in 1860) followed by confetti shots in the Office’s South facing terrace garden. Family and group shots followed at Guildford Castle, and we ended with a relaxed reception at The Weyside.

I am so glad this beautiful bride and groom picked this spot for their family and couple shots, as we had plenty of space to move around in and the backdrop was truly stunning. With a mixture of, 360-degree panoramic views of Guildford, charming Surrey countryside and exquisite castle stone (dating back to 1300), as a professional photographer, I was utterly spoilt for incredible photos and opportunities at this glorious location!

The Weyside is situated on the banks of the River Wey, near to the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and a stone throw from Guildford cobbled High street” and the castle! “A stunning riverside location, with a large beer garden and conservatory” made for the perfect, pretty, tranquil and relaxed wedding venue.

It was a joy to shoot such a relaxed intimate wedding, set in the beautiful rolling hills of Surrey and the town I grew up in, Guildford.

Finding the right wedding photographer who will capture all of those authentic moments and timeless images is so important!
