Documentary Wedding Photography

April, 2021

For some Couples their idea of the "Perfect Wedding Day" is a grand affair, with lots of Suppliers, Guests and Glam! Whilst Large Wedding Days make for some epic Photos and Memories - they can also come with a rather hefty price tag!

I wanted to write a Blog Post to reassure any Couples who may be considering smaller Wedding numbers, after a somewhat uncertain year (bit of an understatement, I know!), that Small and Intimate Weddings can be different but JUST as beautiful!

Why opt for a Smaller Wedding?

  • Just the Two of You - A lovely thing about Smaller Weddings is the focus moves to the most important thing about the celebratory day itself: two people choosing to form a life-long, binding union.

  • Venue Options - Many Intimate Weddings can take place mid-week which can open up a large variety of Venues that you may have written off due to their lack of Weekend availability or even considered out of your budget! Some might even offer a great deal, so it's definitely worth checking/asking!

  • Continuing to Make Memories - There is unlikely to be another Year (hopefully!) that resembles what we've all been through recently in 2021. It is MORE important than EVER to make those special memories and to record them this Year!

  • It's the Simple Things - In a Year where simply hugging our loved ones would be considered THE most valuable thing to us, it is MORE important than ever to celebrate the simple things. Arranging extravagant events has definitely not been easy or even doable recently, but there has never been a greater time to appreciate and celebrate life itself, call me cheesy but what better way to do this than to celebrate true love and to lap up all the excitement and joy that A Wedding can create!?

How to plan a Wedding in 2021?

Understandably lots of my Couples have been asking me what I would do if I were in their position and here's what I say...

  • Keep Informed - As we have all discovered during recent months, rules surrounding Weddings are constantly changing! Hopefully, the Second Half of the Year will see all restrictions lifted, but I'd still recommend keeping yourselves up to date on current conditions and checking credible sources!

  • Try to Stay Flexible - Due to the uncertain times we find ourselves living in, flexibility is key to so many things. I find focusing on what you CAN have on your Wedding Day, rather than focussing on the things you feel you might be missing out on, can be a really helpful tool too!

Sarah & Craig's Wedding Day was a relaxed but beautiful one, with an intimate ceremony in Surrey followed by Couple & Family Photos at Guildford Castle, the weather was kind to us, and it was an honour to capture such special memories with the Happy Couple and their gorgeous growing Family!
