5 THINGS TO EXPECT FROM A "FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT" WITH ME
In October, I had the wonderful privilege of photographing Tara and her beautiful family.
“Wow what amazing photos we have just received. So pleased, look forward to prints at Christmas. The girls loved having their photos done with Megan who is so friendly and warm and such a delight. Thank you, Megan, great pics.” Tara.
I met Tara whilst working at my previous job and it’s definitely a special treat for me when I get to photograph someone I know, like catching up with an old friend!
Tara was after some shots with her daughters and granddaughters, and we figured autumn was the perfect time to make it happen, with a sea of stunning colours, beautiful warm light and (usually) predictable weather at that time of the year, here in the U.K., (I know what you’re thinking it’s never truly predictable but you know what I mean!) we headed to Wisley R.H.S. Gardens (see my previous post on this beautiful place here) for their lovely “Family Session”.
The kids were all so adorable and the setting so utterly picturesque that my job really was made easy!
It got me thinking about how I could give new/potential families, who I’ve not yet got to know, an insight into what it is that I do and how I do it.
So, I wanted to share a few details on what to expect from your first “Family Session” with me and my camera…
1/ Prep – Before your shoot with me we will discuss and go over a small contract, detailing the nitty-gritty of timings, privacy, etc! We will also discuss locations, outfits, and style, my aim is to understand your dream image of a “Family shoot” and to then translate it into your own photographs. This small amount of planning will allow you to arrive feeling prepared and relaxed.
2/ During – Since we’ve already done a little planning, it’ll be chitchat as usual, lots of giggles and fun, real laughs and interactions with each other, think of it as family time, but there’s someone there to record it, as opposed to feeling like you need to “perform” to me/the camera!
3/ Editing – Depending on the number of images (discussed prior to the shoot of course) and the time of year our shoot took place, I usually give a 2-3 week waiting time for your images, in my signature editing style.
4/ Delivery – Your images will be delivered on digital download link (this can be made private too) or on a memory stick to keep, if requested.
5/ Afterward – I usually offer lots of wonderful discounts for my previous clients and will always keep you up to date on future shoots/deals. I’m here to answer any questions and keep communication open too. (paragraph) Tara will be coming back for another “Family Session” at Christmas time, which is so exciting. It was important to me that the children felt super comfortable and it’s evidently worth putting the time in to make them feel safe and happy.
Photographing this gorgeous family again will be an even more relaxed affair, woopie! If you’re thinking of booking a family session, then please do get in touch here.
